Wills, estate papers, deeds, surveys, letters, military papers, and genealogical materials of members of the Smith family of Smithtown, particularly Adam Smith and his descendants. Wills include those of Edmund Smith, son of Adam Smith, 1734; Nathaniel Smith, 1826; another Nathaniel Smith, 1841; and Charity Smith. Items of note include a copy, 1742, of the 1735 articles of agreement to apportion undivided land in Smithtown among the descendants of Richard Smythe, with a record of how the land was divided, 1736, signed by Richard Woodhull, John Hallock, and George Townsend; and surveys of Smithtown, 1716 and 1736. Also, certificates appointing Nathaniel Smith, Jr. and Nathaniel Smith III to the Suffolk County Militia, 1806 and 1812; papers of Sarah C. Smith; and letters of the family of Jesse W. Floyd, 1813-1854.
